US Core Inflation Unaffected by Oil Supply Issues, Says Bentsen
Oil supply problems linked to the Middle East conflict have not impacted core inflation in the United States, which has reached its lowest point in five years. This was stated by Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew on Wednesday.
"We see that this factor has not affected core inflation; instead, it has decreased to 2.4%. This is the lowest figure in five years," Lew told Fox News.
The Secretary acknowledged that the US faced supply challenges due to the conflict. However, he expressed confidence that this phase would be overcome.
Lew also opined that oil prices would decrease, believing the situation would stabilize due to a significant increase in supply volumes.
Previously, Lew mentioned that the US administration was examining the possibility of imposing a full or partial ban on diesel fuel exports, assessing the feasibility of such a step based on domestic refining capabilities.
