Medical news

In the Tymovsky district of Sakhalin Oblast, a 16-year-old teenager has been placed in a pre-trial detention center after allegedly stabbing his stepfather with a knife. A criminal case for attempted murder has been initiated against the youth. However, local residents claim he acted in self-defense, unable to withstand years of beatings and humiliation from his mother’s partner. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Echo of Sakhalin” on Monday, May 18th.

According to neighbors, the teenager has lived with his mother and her partner since the age of two. The adults reportedly abuse alcohol and frequently quarrel, with the boy systematically subjected to physical and emotional abuse. He was allegedly forbidden from washing his clothes, charging his phone, and once broke his arm after a severe beating. His mother reportedly urged him not to go to the police, promising things would change. A couple of years ago, the teenager was placed in a rehabilitation center but later returned home.

This time, the conflict escalated significantly, with the teenager inflicting a stab wound on his stepfather. The man has been hospitalized, while the teenager is now in a pre-trial detention center.

“The boy’s psyche couldn’t withstand another humiliation and beating from his stepfather. The guy was defending himself,” stated district residents in conversation with the channel.

The Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Sakhalin Oblast confirmed that a criminal case has been opened regarding the infliction of bodily harm. Investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
